OUR SERVICES
At Incendia we provide services that protect your building or business and the people who work within them.
The areas of service we cover include:
FIRE SYSTEMS
Fire Detection & Alarm systems
Although only observed in the form of a fire control panel by most people, a detection and alarm system is essentially a network of detectors and support systems designed to alert occupants of the presence of fire or smoke, activate building systems to aid evacuation and communicate (where relevant) with fire and emergency personnel. The detection and alarm system also provides information to emergency services personnel of the exact building location of the issue, facilitating an effective response. Fire panels must be serviced at monthly intervals to ensure a standard of safety and reliability in the event of a fire.
Fire Sprinkler Systems
Sprinklers or fixed fire suppression systems are common features in modern buildings. When activated by elevations in heat they provide water suppression to any fire with large volumes of water dispersed by sprinkler heads suited to the hazard and location. Sprinkler systems are commonly supported by on-site pumps that activate to maintain water pressure when fighting a fire. Sprinkler systems are a critical component of an active automated fire system and must be maintained monthly in accordance with Australian standards to ensure a standard of safety and reliability in the event of a fire.
Fire Hydrant systems
Fire Hydrants have been features of building fire systems for decades. They provide the means for emergency services personnel to fight fires by hose, and are often supported by on-site pumps to provide the necessary pressure to enable water flow at pressure through any hose. Fire hydrant pumps are commonly linked to a fire and control panel and must be serviced on a monthly or six monthly basis depending on configuration.
Emergency Lighting systems
Emergency lighting systems are found in everyday locations such as buildings, planes, trains and public spaces. They operate (via illuminated exit signs and lighting) to provide a path of exit for occupants during an emergency situation. Emergency lighting fittings are also supported by backup batteries with a minimum 90 minute duration, to ensure that even in cases where power failures occur, there is sufficient illumination to safely exit. Emergency lighting systems are serviced on a six monthly basis under the relevant Australian standard.
PORTABLE AND PASSIVE EQUIPMENT
Fire Extinguishers
The most commonly known and used fire equipment throughout the world, extinguishers provide portable fire protection direct to a location. Designed for use by any person with very little instruction, the pressurised canisters provide different extinguishing agents to a fire depending on the hazard type. Although of limited capacity, if used correctly, an extinguisher can effectively extinguish a fire in its early stages. Extinguishers must be serviced every six months in accordance with the relevant Australian standard.
Fire Hose Reels
Fire hose reels are often mounted in open spaces on walls or housed in cupboards, and would be easily recognisable to most persons. These circular drums feature a 36 or 50 metre hose linked to a continuous supply of water. They are intended for use by building occupants to suppress a fire in its early stages. Fire hose reels must be serviced every six months in accordance with the relevant Australian standard.
Fire Blankets
Commonly found in kitchen areas, fire blankets are an effective means to extinguish cooking oil fires and are used in human torch situations. Manufactured from a fire retardant material they act to smother any fire. Fire blankets must also be serviced according to a frequency defined by Australian standards.
Fire & Smoke Doors and Shutters
An integral component of the building structure and its resistance to fire and smoke, these passive fire elements operate to create and maintain fire compartments. Fire compartments as an element of building construction minimise or halt the spread of fire and smoke between building sections, tenancies or levels. Doors and shutters must be inspected at regular intervals in accordance with the requirements of the Australian standards to ensure that they will operate effectively when required.
TRAINING & PLANNING
Evacuation Training and emergency management Plans
We provide custom designed evacuation coordination, first response and general evacuation training for buildings of all sizes. With years of experience in providing training our content is relevant, engaging and concise. All training is conducted at your site and we will formulate a management plan for the property including occupier certificates for QFES.
Fire Evacuation Diagrams
Compliant evacuation diagrams are required in all commercial buildings and need to be designed and installed according to the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008. We will draft, design and install diagrams to ensure you comply.
Fire Audits and Compliance Reports
We will undertake an annual audit of your fire installation to confirm that it is properly maintained, any faults are rectified, training has been conducted and that your records comply. We will then lodge the required occupiers' statement with the relevant authority.
Fire safety adviser service
All buildings in Queensland that are regularly occupied by more than 30 people are required to appoint a Fire Safety Adviser (FSA). We can undertake this role on your behalf. As part of this service we provide training to large staff groups, can oversee and coordinate evacuations, conduct inspections and provide guidance on critical aspects of compliance.
